Barrett Petfood is a family owned and operated premium pet food manufacturer. We are currently hiring a Weekend Packaging Supervisor.  This position will be responsible for ensuring that the packaging process goes smoothly and efficiently by closely monitoring and supporting their packaging team. Leading by example in all areas of Safety, Quality and Performance is a must.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Works closely with Packaging Manager on setting daily plan for weekend packaging and ensuring customer demands are being met 
  • Drives quality through monitoring and validating that the product is within standards, checking paperwork, and ensuring the product is correct 
  • Supports troubleshooting of equipment to ensure that daily throughput requirements are being met 
  • Communicates packaging needs with other department leadership as necessary  
  • Notifies Packaging Manager of any Safety, Quality, or Production escalation issues 
  • Guides the team to ensure product is packaged in a safe, high quality, efficient, and timely manner 
  • Ensures that all packaging personnel are trained according to Barrett standards and follows all safety, quality, and production expectations 
  • Provides team members with valuable feedback on their performance on a day-to-day basis 
  • Displays model behavior and provides clear direction to team members   
  • Looks for ways to improve skills and knowledge for self and team in the department  
  • Follows safety policies, procedures, and encourages others to work safely     
  • Identifies and corrects safety and violation hazards 
  • Helps solve packaging problems, looks for lean opportunities to improve processes daily while being a “no excuses” team leader    
  • Respects co-workers in a sincere appreciative manner by having a polite, professional, and positive approach  
  • Holds employees accountable to performance and quality expectations and rewards with appropriate recognition 
  • Acts with integrity while working effectively with others and communicating appropriately by utilizing active listening skills.   

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines  
  • Strong priority and problem-solving skills  
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience and proven leadership skills  
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment  
  • Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software 
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs   

Hours:  

  • Day: 6am – 6:30pm Saturday & Sunday with 1 weekday shift  
  • Overnight: 6pm – 6:30am Saturday & Sunday with 1 weeknight shift  

Pay: 

  • Dependent on qualifications & experience
